True: Three is better than two.

Designs, Normal • 3 comments

I can tell you now: This design has been the best thing that has ever happened in this website since I’ve thought of the first one. The coding and transforming went absolutely smooth, and the output is just — amazing. If you’d see my face right now, you’d already know.

Of course, version three wouldn’t be possible without version two. Although that was one of my biggest mistakes in design, I mean, the design itself is okay, but it just doesn’t look right. So I learned to its mistakes by just getting the ones that I think are the good parts of the design, and somehow improved them. Looks like I did okay with that. It looks like the first two designs combined, right? And yeah, the content. I’m too lazy/busy/[put adjective here]. I’ll do that when I’m not worrying about failing INTROSE or any other course. And for the bottom/sidebar part of the site, I’ll add more plugins. Probably - no, most likely - a Flickr plugin, ‘coz I got some pictures up there. Not graphics or any stuff like that, but real ones. You know, the ones taken by a digital camera.

Edit: Anything newer than the One La Salle blog entry was deleted, due to my utter instincts to delete them. I basically have made version two go *poof.* Hahaha

Coming soon: Derivatrix v2!

Designs, Programming • No comments

That’s all I can say right now. There are no screenshots of the concept for you to see, but just take my word for it: It’s undeniably sexy. And yeah, I’m going back to my favorite color. (One can guess, but it’s not green. :P) I sort of miss the color very much.

I’m still thinking about how I’m going to code this; either with WordPress as my foundation or just pure hardcore PHP/textfile and jQuery. Can anyone pick one for me? xD

Update (6/20): The quite-sexy coming soon page is in the main page. And I decided to use WordPress. Now, to make the design…

The truth about LoveAlgo.

Designs, Normal, Programming • No comments

Okay, so what exactly is LoveAlgo, the cryptic code that I’ve showed to some of you in my Multiply blog? It’s partially true that the code is externally based on the [supposed] evolution of love between two entities (if such exists), but I’ve hidden some of its actual meaning. What? You thought that it’s just some “for-fun” algorithm so it’s basically just that?

Well, to be frank, LoveAlgo is actually the abbreviated name of the Less-obfuscated verification Algorithm. If you’ve actually analyzed the code, it’s actually easy to decipher, right? That’s why it’s “less-obfuscated.” But, due to the powers of server-side coding, this algorithm is almost at par with the best encryption and/or decryption modules. I’m not talking about MD5 and Base64, you dumbass, but I’m talking about making it better than just basic password authentications.

And now that we’re talking about passwords, I’m currently thinking of an extension to LoveAlgo. I think I’m going to call it Dynamic LoveAlgo, as the code for encryption and decryption is, well, dynamic. I won’t get into details about it, anyway, since it’ll be part of EASE@Haven. I’m thinking about not giving it documentation, too. Sorry, INTROSE professor: Classified information. :P

What’s EASE?

Academics, Designs, Technology • No comments

Since my professor in INTROSE has (sort of) approved our project, let me actually tell you what this EASE thing is all about.

Basically, EASE is short for “Enrollment and Accounting System for Educational Institutions.” In the logo above, there’s the EASE thing, plus the @Haven, telling the visitor that it’s made for Haven Montessori (a school founded by my mom). That’s basically it: A software that will help my mom have more vacations, than to have more stressful nights. And to prove to my mom that this is what I’ll do when I go to an actual programming job.

Right now, I’m thinking about doing it in HTML/PHP and MySQL, all in a cool SSL layer, just to be “secure.” And probably one part of it in Java, then the database located on and off-line. Sounds cool, right? Well, let’s see if we can actually do that.

Oh, yeah. I’m starting to do some prototypes. Like, interfaces. Web interfaces. What fun. (You can obviously see why people don’t take me seriously. Even in…)

“Home sweet home.”

WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

After three weeks of pure sight-seeing, rental-car-driving (nearly got lost with it, too), roller-coaster-riding and playing Halo 3, we’re finally back home. I already miss being with my stateside cousins. What can I say; I’m undeniably amazed by the place. Take my word for it. It was really fun while it lasted. The three weeks I’ve had is definitely worthwhile.

And it ended on Sunday. Now, it’s Friday, and I’ve been downloading stuff like crazy. Albums and stuff. I’ve been designing stuff too, but I’m putting it off for a while, since there’s no one giving me orders. Yet. And I still don’t feel the urge of creative juices going into my brain - oh, wait, that’s just like when I’m trying to finish Conscientious chapters! Heh. I’ve been commenting on blogs recently (except for Multiply blogs), starting with Gwen CATCH2T10 S11’s president.

I’ve also been eating a lot since I’ve arrived here. Like, come on, I’ve eaten at least three packs of those gummy bears, as you can see at the top left, in the past 24 hours. I’m probably just addicted to gummy stuff, but still, I can tell, that’s a lot. (And I just wish I can replace my obsession to technology to these cuddly, pretty much edible sweets.)

Oh, I almost forgot, I’ve been playing with my iPhone in the past two weeks. It’s like playing (tweaking stuff, blah, blah) with my computer, except on a mobile phone. I absolutely cannot believe that I’d be this bewildered with the phone’s hackability, And look, I’ve already bricked (a term for ultimately messing up a gadget, almost to the point of being dead) my phone once. And for a two-week timeline and a computer-literate brain, that’s fast. I better start taking care of it, and still successfully tweak it. (And yeah, I’m basically paying this phone, by the design stuff I’m doing. I already have money to pay for it in full, it’s just one client doesn’t have sufficient funds to give the full payment. So, yeah, dad’s paid for it for a while.) It’s still a HUGE SUCCESS (yeah, that Portal joke again, I know), nevertheless.

Okay, now that I’m done with this, what else to do… None, I guess. I’ll probably just sit down, visit random sites, listen to music, and open another pack of gummi bears. Yum.

About the Picture:
Taken recently using the teeny-sized camera of the iPhone. Number of bears during picture taking: 28. Number of current bears: 0.
